A Strawberry In A Bowl Of Peas

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Good Morning!

June is almost here and that means another release of utterly adorable stamps from All That Scraps! The June sneak peeks start next week, but before we share those new cuties with you, here's one last look at one of this month's sweet stamps! :)

It's Berry Beatrice in her strawberry costume! As a kid, I would have gladly handed over my Strawberry Shortcake figurine for a costume like this one! It's too cute!

Beatrice was colored up with my SU reinkers and aquapainter brush and I used a few papers from Basic Grey and October Afternoon. I don't know what it is, but I just love black ink on kraft cardstock! Which is why I stamped the sentiment, from the Berry Logo's set, on some scrap kraft cardstock and punched it out with the tickets die. The border was hand drawn by me with a Micron pen. Love the simplicity of this card! Sometimes it's just nice to enjoy all the fun colors on a card without covering most of them up! Know what I mean?

If you need a bit more inspiration, then head on over to the ATS blog to see what eye candy the design team has created for you this week!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend! If it's the wet weekend they're predicting, I'm planning on cleaning my house since I've neglected it most weekends because the weather has been so nice to stay indoors! :)

Hope you have yourself a lovely one!
Toodles!

So Great To Sea You!

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Good Morning!

What a week it's been so far! Monday was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and my peonies were about to bloom. Then yesterday, we had a terrible storm roll through town with torrential rains, high winds, tornado warnings, hail and flooding! It washed away a huge chunk of our driveway and my beautiful peony bush got pumbled! Such bizarre weather!

Luckily we didn't lose power last night because I wouldn't have had any light to make this card! Phew!

I have been waiting to use this set ever since I got it in the mail...it's the Make A Splash set from There She Goes. She's adorable isn't she? The main reason I wanted this set is because I was dying to color her fins in and add a ton of glitter to it! :D I have to get my fix whenever I can get it!

I used my SU reinkers to color her in. Her fin was a combination of Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive; her hair was a little bit of Really Rust and Ruby Red, and the 'water' around her was a tiny bit of Pool Party with Antique Linen Distress Ink around the edges of the oval panel.

The papers are from an old stack of MME 'Home' glitter paper and that gorgeous wrinkled ribbon is from Ribbon Carousel. The colors I chose were inspired by the Pinterest Inspiration challenge RCC55 this week over at Ribbon Carousel. (Must remember to pin that image!) The layout is from last week's Mojo Monday #242. I also used a teeny tiny bit of cork on my card too as a bit of a reminder about TSG's cork challenge this week! Man, that's a lot of inspiration on one tiny card! lol

Well, I hope your week is going well so far! Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by today!

TSG158: Cork It!

Monday, May 28, 2012

Good Morning!

How we all doing today?? Good, I hope! It's Memorial Day in the US today so I'm on a three day weekend...and loving it! Why can't all weekends be three days long?! I'd get so much done if they were! It also happens to be my birthday today. Love having a public holiday on my birthday! It means never having to ask for the day off from work! Yeehaa!

So in honor of my birthday I thought I should make today's card a birthday one! It's also Monday, which means it's time for another There She Goes challenge. Today's challenge, TSG158, is being dished out by this week's featured Trendsetter - Karen Giron. (It's actually Karen's last week with us, so if you want to show her how much you love her, pop on over to her blog and tell her how much you're going to miss her!) :) Her challenge for us is to use cork on your card or project!

I recently bought some cork so I was ready for this challenge! If you don't have any, I hear Trendsetter Holly McMillen has a tutorial on how to make your own! I was a little scared to use this stuff since I haven't used it before, but I decided to jump in the deep end and use a WHOLE LOT OF IT on my card! lol

I spied TSG's Alum, Iwona Palamountain's Sketchbook Saturday #61 layout and knew I could whip something up with it! The flowers were cut using PTI's Beautiful Blooms #1 dies, with brown buttons for the centers. The leaves are from TSG's Dance mini set and stamped onto some patterned paper - which happens to be the reverse of that gorgeous teal paper! It's an old piece from Kaisercrafts and it's one of my favorites! The sentiment is from TSG's Happy Mail mini set....which also happens to be one of the sets designed by Iwona! I've got to get bonus points for that! :D
To be eligible for the giveaway, create a card or project using cork and then come back to the TSG blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of this challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (June 4th). The winner will get a $5 gift certificate to use in the TSG Web store!

By participating in this challenge, you may also find yourself in the Trendsetting Spotlight that shines on the TSG Blog every Thursday. We will be on the lookout to find challenge cards that stand out and show Trendsetting qualities. TSG stamps are not required to participate in the challenges but are appreciated :)

You do not need to have a blog to be able to participate in the TSG Challenges! You can simply add the URL link from your project after it has been uploaded to your online craft gallery. If you upload your card to an online craft gallery, please use the keyword TSG158 so we can check out your beautiful work!

Thanks so much for popping in today!

Surprise!! It's Your Birthday Blog Hop Boss Lady!

Monday, May 21, 2012

We're interrupting our regular programming for a little surprise we've been keeping under wraps!
It's Jessica Knutsen's (A.K.A. Boss Lady) official birthday blog hop!!

Blowing birthday cake

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Jessica,
Happy Birthday to you!

We love you!!

The Trendsetters and a few of her friends have gotten together and made some special cards to commemorate her special day. Here's my card for Jess:

I used the Numbered Days set, designed by Torico to create the numbered balloons. The sentiment is also from the set. After picking this patterned paper from Basic Grey's Mellow collection (I've never figured out how to use that paper until now!), I colored the balloons with SU's Regal Rose and Ruby Red ink and my aquapainter brush. The sentiment was stamped onto some scrap cardstock and curled around a pencil to create the flag look.

I hope you like it Jess!! Happy Birthday sweetie!

Here's who else is hopping along with us today!

If you love TSG stamps, we'd love you to leave your own birthday wishes on Jess's blog!

Glass Half Full....Woohoo! It's Friday!

Friday, May 18, 2012

Happy Friday everyone!

I'm looking forward to a lovely weekend of gorgeous weather and a little gardening, although the little one has me running ragged all day Saturday, so it'll have to be just a lazy Sunday for me instead. After a hard day in the garden, I'm going to need something cold to drink! Like a beer perhaps!

Brilliant segway to introduce today's card don't you think?? I thought so! ;)

All week long on the There She Goes blog, we've been sharing past projects of three older sets. Those sets are Aim For The Clouds, A Drink A Day and Life's A Beach. Because we're showing those older sets some love, they're also on sale this week, so if you like what you see, you might want to snap them up! Today the Trendsetters have whipped up a bunch of new cards for you using the sets!

Earlier in the week I made a card using the Life's a Beach set. Today I used the beer glass from the A Drink A Day set to make this masculine card. I colored the beer in using SU's Morning Marigold and just a touch of Really Rust (and Going Gray on the clear glass part). Then I cut it out, sticking close to the linework and ran my Sharpy along the edges so that the white paper doesn't show. Then I covered the whole thing with Diamond Glaze to make it really look like a glass mug! Once that was dry, I popped it onto the panel cut with PTI's Fillable Frames #10 die, which I sponged with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. Then I used a Micron pen to draw a freehand border around the edge.

I borrowed this week's Card Positioning System's sketch #265 for my layout and used scrap pieces of Basic Grey's Pyrus and Max & Whiskers. My go-to 'black' cardstock is defintiely Bazzil Basics's Bitter Chocolate cardstock and Kraft Cardstock. I can't live without either!

Well, that's it from me! I hope you have a fabulous weekend, whatever it is you're doing!

Hugs!

TSG156: Vacation....yes please!

Monday, May 14, 2012

Good morning!

I hope all the mother's out there had a lovely day! I was lucky enough to be served breakfast in bed and a couple of sweet cards. My mum still lives in Australia, so Syd and I sent her a Mother's Day video of us signing the words 'Happy Mother's Day'. My mum is deaf so it's not as easy as picking up the phone and saying the words, unfortunately. She enjoyed it and Syd got to learn a few more signs!

With summer vacation right around the corner for the school kids in the Northern Hemisphere, this week's There She Goes challenge #156 is all about vacations! It just so happens that this week is also TSG (Again!) week and this time we're showing a little love towards a few sets that are vacation themed. One of those sets is Life's A Beach!

Don't you just want to be whisked away to some island that looks like this? Fiji perhaps? I know I do! This set was one of the first sets I played with as a guest designer for TSG wayyyyy back when! I made this card with it and it's still one of my favorite cards. I put so much work into making those posts look realistic! lol This card however, was a quickie! I borrowed Jen's SFYTT for May for my layout and used some newish papers from K&Company called Edamame. I used raffia ribbon for the horizontal panels and a Spellbinders Labels Four nestie for my bottom panel. All of the panels had their edges sponged with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. The main image and the coconut were colored with my SU reinkers and aqupainter brush. I used Cool Caribbean for the water, Pumpkin Pie for the sky, Old Olive for the palms, Creamy Caramel for the sand and Chocolate Chip for the hut, tree trunks and coconut.

To be eligible for the giveaway, create a card or project using May flowers, and then come back to the TSG Blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of this challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (May 21th).

If you upload your card to an online craft gallery, please use the keyword TSG156 so we can check out your beautiful work!

Home Is Where Your Honey Is!

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Good Morning sweet peeps!

We've had nothing but rain here in New England, but we aren't complaining. It's been a dry winter and we've had bush fire alerts for the past couple of weeks. Bush fires in New England just sounds strange to me! Coming from Australia where bush fires are a common place, I can't imagine it ever getting that dry here! But thankfully we won't have to find out because it's been drizzling here for days now. We're surrounded by trees and bush and everything is such a pretty green right now! It reminds me of the rainforests in New Zealand, where I was born. So pretty!

Last week was release week for All That Scraps and today I'm sharing a stamp I didn't get to use last week. It's Sassy Emma and personally, I think she's more sweet than sassy! What do you think??

The papers I chose might make her look a little sassy, but she's really sweet and lovely! I had recently picked up some Out Of Print paper from Michaels and really wanted to use them. The green polka dot paper is from BoBunny (I think!). The sentiment is from another recently released set, called Bees Knees Logos. The rhinestones are also from Michaels. I really need to do some online shopping soon since the closest scrapbook store to me is 1.5hrs away! Michaels can only supply so much! lol

Thanks for stopping by today! And hang in there peeps - tomorrow is Friday! Woohooo!

ATS May Release Sneak Peek - Day 4!!

Thursday, May 3, 2012

It's the fourth and final day of sneak peeks for the All That Scraps May releases! I hope you've enjoyed them all so far!

Today we have a treat for you all! Amy Young has come up with a new collection for us to fall in love with! One of three outdoorsy girls,...

Meet Elsie!!

(I apologize for the photo, but I do not own a light box and this is the best I can do in my old farmhouse!)

She's a beauty isn't she?? I love her pinafore apron and bonnet! When I got her in the mail, I also got the fence, flower and grass border dies with her, which gave me the idea to create a shadow box wall plaque for my daughter's room. This photo doesn't do it justice, but in real life, this has a ton of depth and it looks so good on her dresser!

To make this wall plaque, I purchased an inexpensive double matted photo frame (which game me enough depth without sandwiching any of the pieces up against the glass) from Michaels. I stamped out Elsie onto some white cardstock, colored her up with my reinkers, paper pieced her apron and bonnet and cut her out. Then I cut out two fences from some wood patterned paper (from K&Company) and trimmed off the pickets from one of them. Next, I adhered the trimmed pickets to the face of the second fence with dimensionals. Then I cut the grass and flower border dies from white cardstock, colored them in with my reinkers and aquapainter brush, and adhered them to the fence with glue. Then I mounted that and some clouds (cut from sparkly mulberry paper) to some blue patterned paper. The sentiment is from last month's Watering Can Logo's set. It worked perfectly with this image! As a last detail, I added adhesive pearls to the centers of the flowers.

Here's a close up of the image. (Bad photo again, I'm so sorry!)

Now you should definitely head over to the ATS blog to check out what the other DT girls did with Elsie and her two friends!

Thank you SO much for stopping by all week! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

ATS May Release Sneak Peek - Day 3!!

Wednesday, May 2, 2012

Hi again! It's time for day three of the All That Scraps May releases!

We have a new illustrator, Wendy Chew, to introduce you to today and she has three stamps being released this week! Are you ready for another sneak peek?? Here we go....

Meet Mashi Muffin's Gnome!

I love how he's perched on that big mushroom! And for a stamp, he's a biggie! At his widest points, he's 2.75"x3.625". He was going to cover a lot of my base if I didn't do something a little different, so I made my own designer paper! For the panel he's popped up on, I sponged some clouds using SU's Cool Caribbean and the cloud template from Rosie's Roadshow. Then I used the ATS grass die to fill in around the base of the 'shroom. Next, I used some brown ink and about 5 different stamps from Amy R.'s new sentiment set, All About Dad, to create the base. I love the way that turned out, don't you? Then it was just a matter of adding some Doodle Twine and a sentiment (also from Amy R.'s set).

If you want to see the other two stamps from the new Mashi's Muffin's collection, then head on over to the ATS blog to see what the rest of the design team did with them!

Don't forget: all the stamps and dies are available for purchase this Thursday at 8pm CST from the ATS store!

ATS May Release Sneak Peek - Day 2!!

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Good Morning everyone!
It's day two of the All That Scraps May release sneak peeks! Are you ready for some more cuteness?? I hope so! Today it's the Swiss Pixie's turn and I've got one of them to share with you all!

Introducing....Cherry Lucy!

Is she not adorable?! Christine has done it again! Just when I think the Swiss Pixies can't get any cuter, out comes another one, better than the last!

To make this card, I finally found a (cute) reason to cut into my only sheet of the retired Early Bird cherry paper from Cosmo Cricket! (If you're like me and you're hanging onto a sheet or two of that paper for the right stamp....look no further peeps - that stamp has arrived!) I then paired it with some matching paper from MME and Bo Bunny. (Tip: If you only have one sheet from a paper collection and don't know what other paper would match it, try looking up the entire paper collection online and use the colors from that line to find a match in your scrap draw.)

Then I used this week's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #57 for my layout. I adjusted it to fit my 5.5"x5.5" square card. I used lace for the scalloped element and a circle panel instead of the Labels 4 die. The vertical panel was created using one of PTI's Half and Half die and do you see that cherry?? It was made using a new Cherry die that's being released this Thursday! Awesome isn't it?? Oh, and that's not all....see those tickets?? Yep! That's another die being released this month, along with a matching stamp in the new Berry's Logo's set! Each panel was sponged with with Distress Inks and machine stitched to brown cardstock.

Here's what the inside of the card looks like. The thank you sentiment is from Amy R.'s new set called Many Thanks and the cherries logo is also from the Berry Logo's set. Love how everything coordinates so easily!

Thanks so much for popping in today! See you all tomorrow with another ATS sneak peek!
