TSG201: A Card For The Boys!

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Hi all!

I hope your weekend/Easter was a good one. Ours was pretty uneventful. We went to the Y on Saturday, then spent Easter with The Man's family. My little ray of sunshine had been looking forward to the Easter egg hunt all week...and it didn't disappoint! She got a whole lot more than just eggs and candy....she's one spoiled kid, I tell ya!

This week's There She Goes challenge (TSG201) is one for the boys! We want to see all your masculine cards out in force this week!

A guy card to me, means no frills; no ribbons, no flowers, no extras. They're just not into that stuff! So for my card I only included buttons and a little, itty, bit of baker's twine.

Those cute little rhinoceroses are from the Zoopendous stamp set. I stamped it with StazOn in Jet Black, then colored them in with my Stampin Up! reinkers. The background clouds were made using Rosies Roadshow Cloud template and SU's Cool Caribbean. The popped out clouds were stamped, then colored with SU's Going Gray, cut out and adhered to the base with dimensionals. The grass was done using a wash of SU's Old Olive on the base. Once that dried, I reapplied the Old Olive in short, quick strokes to represent grass. The sentiment was stamped onto transparent paper and topped with PTI buttons in Stone and some grey baker's twine. Because the card is so basic, I stamped some trees and clouds onto the kraft cardstock base with Versamark Ink. That's pretty much it! And not a lick of patterned paper anywhere! lol

I hope you are inspired to make a card for the man in your life!

Thanks for popping in today! I'll be back tomorrow with another Deconstructed Sketch!

love the card, I just love using vellum on a card. The cloud background is really fabulous. But, please excuse my ignorance but SU has a color named Cool Caribbean, is it a very old color?
