DS87: Make A Wish!

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Happy Thursday everyone!

Another week almost over! Personally, I can't wait for this week to end! Work has been off-the-hook CRAZY BUSY and I haven't been getting to bed early at all! The truth is I've been working on a new cross stitch that came in the mail this week and I can't put the thing down! lol You girls know what it's like when you get something new, like a book, and you can't put it down...that's my problem! When I'm in front of the TV, I can't stop stitching! Then before I know it, it's midnight and I have to get up for work in 5hrs! lol Oh well; at least I'm having fun, right?! :)

Since it's Thursday, it's time to share another Deconstructing Sketch with you all! This week's one, DS87, is fabulous for using up all those scraps before the new CHA papers start shipping!

Fabulous isn't it?! Who doesn't love banners?! Here's what I came up with using it:-

She's so stinkin' adorable!! This is one of the pixies from The Pixies Set A from Stamping Bella. Don't you love her blue hair?! I squealed out loud when I finished coloring her in! lol If you can't see the sketch, tilt your head to your left...I turned it on it's side. :) Instead of using different papers for my banners, I used some washi tape! Because washi tape is slightly transparent, it creates a subtle pattern and doesn't overpower the base patterned paper. And just to give the tape some presence, I sewed down the middle of the cream colored tape.

Here's a close up of the image:-

I really, really love how this card turned out! I watercolored the image with my SU reinkers and sponged the edges of the image panel with Antique Linen, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Then I stamped the sentiment, from PTI's Mixed Messages set, off to one side. Then, because all pixies and fairies must have fairy dust, I used my Quickie glue pen to add some glitter to her wings and hair.

Not sure about the sketch? Need more inspiration?? Check out what the DT girls did with it!

TSG192: Wood Grain!

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Good morning! Did you all enjoy all the sneak peeks last week? As I pinned them to the TSG Pinterest boards, I was just in awe of the talent on this team! So many awesome cards and ideas all in one place! I can't begin to tell you how much I love being on this team!! *sigh*

Have you checked out this week's TSG challenge TSG192? Trendsetter Tracy MacDonald has challenged us to use wood grain in any form on our card or 3D project. I had watercolored some wood grain to the snowglobe card I made last week and had such a good time doing it, so I thought I'd do it again and share with you exactly how I did it!

I love how this card turned out! And I especially love how my woodie pickup truck turned out!

I used the On The Move set and this week's Retro Sketches #48 for my layout.

I'm pretty sure it's a heck of a lot easier to create wood grain with Copic markers but it's not all that difficult with reinkers and an aqupainter brush either. To start, I added a wash of brown ink (Soft Suede). Then I added more ink to the areas that I wanted the shadows to be (on the left and right hand corners of the side panel). Then, because I needed my brush as dry as possible, I continued to color the rest of the image, until it was quite dry. Then I dipped the tip of the brush into the brown ink and added streaks across the panel to represent grain. To make it a little more realistic, you need to add some 'knots' to the grain. To do this, just sketch some eye-shaped ellipses to the grain. And that's it! If you're really uncomfortable with it, I suggest practicing on some scrap paper before you try it on your image. Let me know if you give it a go! I'd love to see your work!

If you want to join us this week, here are the deets you need to know:

TSG February Release Sneak Peeks - Day 4!!

Friday, January 25, 2013

Happy Friday everyone! It's the fourth and final day of the There She Goes February release sneak peeks. Are you ready for another SWEET set??

Our final set for this month was designed by our AMAZING owner, Jessica Knutsen. This gorgeous tree with heart shaped leaves is perfect for not only telling someone you love them, but for saying thanks from the bottom of your heart. It could be used for so much more, too!!

Heartfelt Thanks is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 5 stamps and will sell for $9.00.

Isn't it the loveliest tree you've ever seen?? Look at all those hearts!! Love it! I wanted the hearts to stand out, so I kept the base colors in the same color family and made the tree stand out by popping it on the bluw sky background. For the layout, I used this week's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #88.

TSG February Release Sneak Peeks - Day 3!!

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Helloooooo Sweet Peeps! It's Day 4 of the There She Goes February sneak peeks and we're showcasing one of my favorite sets today!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we have a SUPER cute set from Torico this month called BE MY VALENTINE. This cute little cherub, and all it’s adorable sayings and arrows will be PERFECT for any Valentine card, treat, or project you can think of.

Be My Valentine is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 5 stamps and will sell for $9.00.

Isn't he an adorable little cherub?! I just love his 'rough around the edges' look! Like he's up to something! :) I figured that since he was on a cloud already, he should be hanging out up there, so I created some sky behind him with my cloud template from Rosies Roadshow and SU's Cool Caribbean ink pad. The banner was done by stamping out the sentiment onto some scrap white cardstock and cutting it out with the large banner die from the There She Goes Just For You die set.

Here's a close up of the glitter on his wing(s) and the background.

Deconstructing Sketch Chick!!

Yep! That's me! I still can't quite believe it!

If you missed Jen's announcement on Facebook yesterday, I'm one of the new girls on the Deconstructing Sketch design team! I'm so thrilled to be on the team with Jen and all these talented ladies! I'm especially excited to be stamping along side my dear friend Kadie! This also means that I'll be posting on my blog a bit more regularly too. :)

This week's Deconstructing Sketch #86 is a great one - lots of repeating circles in it. I immediately saw snowflakes, so that's what I went with!

I used some old paper paper from MME and Scenic Route for my base. Each piece was sponged with Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Then I used snowflake dies from My Favorite Things to cut snowflakes from white glitter paper. Don't you love that snowglobe?! I adore snowglobe....stamps! lol I used the snowglobe stamp and die from There She Goes, then stamped that cute little kid from the Holiday Cheer set. As with all my cards, I colored up the image my SU reinkers and aquapainter brush. I added some glitter to the snow for just a bit more sparkle. :)

Here's a close up of that glitter. The card felt a bit lopsided, so I added some red bakers twine to pull both sides together. The sentiment is from Snowy Days set.

I hope you get a chance to play along with us this week! I can't wait to see all your creations!

TSG February Release Sneak Peeks - Day 2!!

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

G'day peeps! It's Day Two of the There She Goes February Sneak Peeks!
Are you loving the sneak peeks so far?! I know I am!

Whether you are sending your son, daughter, or loved one off, Torico’s new BOOT CAMP stamp set is perfect for you! With the cutest boot image EVER, and several catchy phrases you are sure to find exactly what you need for this very occasion.

Boot Camp is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 5 stamps and will sell for $9.00.

I am so happy TSG's came out with a set that recognizes all the HARD WORK our troops around the globe do for us civilians. They need all our support and encouragement while away from their own families! I'm sure a card from their love ones (or perfect strangers, for that matter!) letting them know we appreciate what they're doing means so much to them. This is the perfect stamp set for that - not girly, but not all testosterone either! I used some scrap paper I've had FOREVER and the layout is this week's TSG Sketch Challenge #191...have you played along with us yet?!

Steampunk is one of our FAVORITE styles here at There She Goes, so when we saw the new Get In Gear set from Torico, we all squealed with delight. She is so sassy, funky, and FABULOUS. Also, the gears included in this set could TOTALLY be used for a CAS boys card, or building a background. SO versatile!

Get in Gear is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 7 stamps and will sell for $9.00.

(I ran out of time to make a card for this set....shhh! Don't tell the boss lady! lol)

TSG February Release Sneak Peeks - Day 1!!

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Hellooooooooooooo chickies!! Are you ready for another week of AWESOME stamp sets and sneak peeks?! It's time for the February release sneak peeks to begin and we've got a FABULOUS one to start the week off with!

It’s no secret, we are DEFINITELY in love with everything Torico does here are There She Goes, and we know you are, too. This month she has honored us by creating a set that we have been begging for…meet THE DOXIE WITH MOXIE!! SUPER cute dachshunds, along with several sentiments, outfits, and even a city scene for our more “elegant” pups, this set is just TOO much fun.

The Doxie with Moxie is a 4x8 set that includes a total of 32 stamps and will sell for $18.00.

BUT WAIT!!! THERE'S MORE!! When brainstorming The Doxie with Moxie set, there was a lot of chatter about sentiments…and some of them took a turn for the funny, but a little risqué, shall we say?! Lol! We couldn’t live without them, so we decided to create the SIZE MATTERS set. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely funny!!

Size Matters is a 3x4 set that includes 7 stamps for $9.00.

I wanted to show you how both sets NEED each other, so I whipped up this tongue-in-cheek card! I used this week's Deconstructing Sketch #85 for my layout and kept the rest of it pretty simple....I think the sentiment says it all though, don't you?! ;)
