A Gardener??! Me!?

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

I can't begin to tell you how unbelievably excited I am at this news!! :D

I've been a Greeting Farm fan since shortly after Marie started the company and when it used to be called Pink Poison! I saw an awesome pirate card on Jenn Muraoka's blog and had to find out who made the stamp. Needless to say, I've been hooked ever since. :) I'm really looking forward to being a part of a wonderful company and creating some fun things over the next few months! Thank you Jess and Marie for this awesome opportunity. :)

In honor of this HUGE news, I made this sweet and simple card!

No crazy layers this time around. And look Ma: no sewing (with thread anyway)! LOL This week's Weekend Sketch challenge #95 was an awesome one! I loved all the elements in it and thought it would work perfectly with the cute owl from the Forest Friends set. I used some paper from DCWV's Green Stack Collection. It works so well with this little guy!

I'm currently in a card swap on SCS with Kadie and Mary - both are currently on TGF's DT and I *think* I may have to case this card for that swap! LOL Hope that's ok Kadie! (Psst! If you'd like to join the swap, there's still time!) :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Need An Escape?

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Hello!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Syd. She scored in the presents department! She now has a scooter, a soccor ball and a bean bag to add to her collection of 'stuff'. The cupcakes we mad for her daycare class went over well and we ended the day with cheesecake! Yum!

Here's another card I created with the recently released "Beware of Bears" cling set from Anna Wight and Whipper Snapper.

This scene just looks so peaceful and serene, doesn't it? I love the stamp in this set! I used the 'Green Stack' paper from DCWV. It's perfect for this set because it has some woodgrain paper and back to nature paper in in it. I snagged my stack from my local Joann's, which I usually never go to, so I scored on that trip! I'll have a few more cards to show you from this Anna Wight collection early next week, so be on the look out for them. (I was so swamped with work last week, I'm playing catch up this week!)

In case you're not on the Whipper Snapper mailing list, they just released their Fall/Winter 2009 stamps for the season. Talk about super cute stamps! I got my order in and there were still a few more stamps on my wishlist! LOL

See you tomorrow with another blooming card! ;)

Round 4: Ultimate Card Showdown!

Thursday, June 25, 2009

For me, this 2sketches4you Ultimate Card Showdown has truly been the most amazing, challenging and eye opening experience! Having only gotten serious about card making and stamping a little over a year ago, I have just been in awe of all the cards that I have seen over the course of this competition. From the creativity to the different styles and products used, I have really been inspired by each and every card.

It has also challenged me to push my own boundaries of what makes a great card. My first card played it safe. Then round two's sketch threw me a little, but I enjoyed the challenge. Round three's card was 'thinking outside the box' for me with it's collage style but I really liked enjoyed making it! For me, this competition has been about trying new things and experimenting and I think my cards have shown that.

So, with that being said, I hope you enjoy my card Round 4!

Meet Mr Skunk. He followed me home the other day and I couldn't resist keeping him around! ;) hehe He's from Die Cuts With a View's 'Green Stack Chipboard' collection. I paired him with some colorful Sassafras Lass paper that I've been hoarding forever! The scalloped borders on the SL paper worked really well with the sketch too.

I applied some of the polka dot 'Woodland Whimsy' paper to a wooden oval shape I found at Michaels. I sponged the edges with Distress Inks and added the punny sentiment with Making Memories alphabet rub-ons. Then I added the bow, flower and buttons to balance out the card a bit. Lastly, I added some stitches with DMC thread for some extra detail.

I have to say that this sketch - by far - was the most challenging of all of them all! I had a tough time with it. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me! I want to say good luck to all the Top 10 girls. You all do such amazing work and it is truly a honor to be amongst you all. Thank you for this experience.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I have a couple of other posts scheduled for today, so keep an eye out for them!
