Miss You

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Good Morning!

I love Wednesdays! And not just because it's hump day either. I love Wednesdays because it's the one day of the week that I totally devote my evenings to watching TV! Starting at 8pm, I'm hooked on watching The Middle, Modern Family and Cougar Town! Do you watch these?? They're hilarious! I love how they take the mickey out of what a 'normal family' is.

I borrowed my friend Kadie's stamp while we were at Miss Mary's house (a few months ago) and colored her up there. Then last week, while I was blog hopping looking for sketches and challenges, I saw the Lolita Boutique's #18 challenge for this week and thought that Miss Lilith would be perfect for it!

I loved Lil Lolita Lilith! She has that moody, Burtonesque look about her. Lil Lolita's challenge this week was to use the colors of purple, black and orange and the colors in Basic Grey's Eerie paper collection matched the challenge perfectly! (I'm loving the fact that I've been using up this 6x6 pad so far this season!)

The layout is this week's Sketch For You To Try (probably my absolute favorite challenge!). I did squash the elements together just a bit for this card, but they're all there, I promise you! :) If you click on the picture for a close up view, you might be able to see that I added some sparkle to her hair and to the skull clip. Love adding little details like that to the images!

Each layer was sponged with Black Soot Distress Ink and machine stitched to cardstock. I think I'm addicted to the zigzag stitch!! It add SO much to a card! I got that lace from my local scrapbook store and that flower is from a new jar collection by Prima Flowers (found at Michaels). The small scalloped border around the image was done with my FAVORITE decorative scissors - also from Michaels.

Hope you're having a great week so far!

Thinking of You...Lil Lolita

Happy Hump Day!

This is another image I colored up while at Mary's house and I'm not going to lie to you - it took me HOURS! And not because we were talking either; I was coughing the whole time! I had to add all the shadows to her hair and those layers in her dress, then I couldn't decide what color to do her eyes...decisions, decisions! :)

Most of you have probably seen these images around blogland, but for those who haven't, they're called Lil Lolita's and you can pick them up from Tickled Pink Stamps, an Aussie company! They're so different and sassy, I just love them! I actually borrowed Miss Kadie's stamps while she was in Maryland (thank you sweetie!), but I have a feeling I'll have to buy my own soon! Just add it to my ever-growing list of wants!

This Lolita's name is Willow and even though Miss Mary had a HUGE stash of copics I could have played with, I still ended up coloring her in with SU reinkers and Distress Inks. (Still scratching my head over that one?!) I picked out some funky June Bug papers (Basic Grey) from Mary's stash to pull colors from for the image but that's as far as I got at her place. So the other night I sketched up a layout that would fit this big image and went to work. Each layer was inked with Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo Distress Ink, distressed with a pair of scissors and machine stitched with black thread. Then I added some black lace, adhesive rhinestones and I used my open scalloped edge punch for a bit of detail down the vertical panel. And because I can't get enough of using my new toy, I made another flower using PTI's Beautiful Blooms die template! I added the sentiment, from Kraftin Kimmie's Everyday Sentiments set to a scrap piece of base cardstock and cut it out using one of the small dies from the Labels Eight nestie set.

EDIT: I just looked at this week's Lil Lolita Challenge #10 and it's all about polka dots! Technically, I did post this the day before the challenge, and I'm bummed out now that I did before seeing this challenge, but I hope the Tickled Pink crew love it anyway! :)

I would have put this in my store today, but Miss Mary emailed me before I'd even put this vamp on a card and put dibs on it! Crazy girl! ;)

Toodles!
