TSG72: A Sketch...With A Twist!

Monday, September 13, 2010

Happy Monday everyone!

We had a quiet weekend but that was a-ok. After a week of running errands and Syd's first week at Kindergarten, a quiet weekend was just what the doctor ordered. The weather has gotten much colder around here too, so I didn't mind staying indoors either. Won't be long and Fall will be here.....LOVE this time of the year! :)

Since it is Monday, it's time for another There She Goes challenge (TSG72). This week, Trendsetter Kim Teasdale has an awesome sketch....with a twist, for you all! Since this is TSG's 2nd birthday month, we're putting a TWIST on all our challenges all month long! The twist to this challenge is that you have to create a birthday card with the sketch! You can check it out all the details over at the TSG blog and as well as what the other Trendsetters have done with it.

Every time I see an oval in a sketch, I immediately gravitate towards my floral sets! It's definitely a subliminal thing with me. I can't resist doing it! So that's why I pulled this older set, Garden of Friends, for this particular birthday card. I thought I'd show some of the older TSG sets some love. :) Which is why I also picked this Green At Heart paper from Basic Grey - I'm all about using up my old paper at the moment!

I colored up the floral bouquet with my reinkers and aquapainter brush, then cut it out with my precision scissors (yes, this took a while!), then added some tiny twinkles to the centers of the rosy red flowers. Then I cut an oval from some scrap neutral patterned paper and a scalloped oval from some cream cardstock, machine stitched them together and adhered the image to it. The edges of the base layers were sponged with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, matted with some cardstock and machine stitched together. I then added the purple ribbon, glued them all together, added the sentiment and orange tiny twinkles in the corners. And that's it!

Now it's your turn! :) Just create your card using Kim's sketch - don't forget to make it a birthday card, and leave a link to it on today's TSG blog post so you're in with a chance to win a $5 gift certificate to the TSG webstore! You have until next Monday (September 20th) when the winner will be announced.

Now, get cracking! :) Have a great Monday!
