A dusting of SNOW!

Saturday, November 22, 2008

That is what greeted us this morning as we woke. It's our first 'snow' of the year....and it isn't even Thanksgiving yet! We might be in for a snowy winter this year.

This first snow makes my card very appropriate for today! It's Christmas morning Riley! Actually, it's really Sleepy Time Riley, but look what you can do with him! I have to admit, I was a little bit inspired by Kitti Caracciolo's Christmas Tree card. She did such a great job (she always does) that I decided to pull out my uninked wreath stamp from Rubbernecker and do something similar with Riley.

I first stamped the wreath with StazOn 'Timber Brown' ink on Whisper White cs, then watercolored over the branches in True Thyme first then added Certain Celery second to add a bit of depth to the image. I then added some Diamond Stickles to some of the branches. I added Fruit Punch Stickles as berries. Riley was watercolored with my SU inks. To play up the white fluffy slippers and teddy bear, I use Soft Sky in the shadows and added more Diamond Stickles - you can NEVER have enough! LOL The background piece was stamped with a 'Happy Holidays' sentiment on an angle. Here's a detail of the card so you can see the sparkle on the card.
Sorry for the late posting today. Hubby had to work today and DD was itching to get to Michael's to buy herself a flower. When we went yesterday, she didn't have her purse with her - today she did! LOL Hope everyone has set aside some stamping or creating time today. I'm hoping to get a couple of cards done tonight.

Take care,
Sandra

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...well, not in Seattle, but this card has definately helped do the trick to get me in the mood. What a fantastic card. Riley is so cute in his PJ's and I love the wreath, the sparklies and the warm winter feeling I get when I look at this card.
