Halloween is almost here!

Halloween happens to be one of my favorite holidays of the year. Not really a holiday I guess, but still a fun event none the less! I must have about 4 or 5 of those Lemax Spooky Town houses that I put up in my house every October. They create a fun atmosphere for the holiday!
Which leads me to the card I made Saturday night.....don't you just LOVE this haunted house from the Doodle Factory and Starving Artists?? I swear I bought this set just for the house! :D

I used the paper tole technique for the house. It was begging for this technique to be used on it! If you look closely, the house has three parts to it; the connector part between the two towers, the two towers and the front door part.
I started out by stamping the image on watercolor paper three times with versamark ink. I then applied black EP and heat set them. I then just colored the connector part on the first image and cut just that part out. On the second image I colored the two towers, the front door and the shrubbery and cut them out (as one piece) - omitting the connector part. On the last image I colored in just front door and the shrubbery and cut just those out as one piece. (Whenever I cut pieces out, I like to run my black sharpie around the edges of the piece so that the white from the paper doesn't show through. It's just a nice finishing touch!)

To build the house, I stamped the image one last time onto the red CS. I then glued the connector piece directly to the red CS. Then I added dimensionals to the tower piece and layered that piece over the connector piece. I then added dimensionals to the front door piece and applied that to the image to complete the tole effect. I took a close up shot of the house so you could see the layers and how they stack. The photo explains it better than I tried to do!

Yes, it's a VERY labor intensive, time consuming technique, but well worth it the effort when you see the end result!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!

Wow! Great haunted house, Sandra. You do such a marvelous job of coloring your images. It may be labor intensive but sure worth the effort. I, too, decorate for this "holiday"....so much fun! As our fellow Halloween fan, Martha, would say "It's a good thing!"
